It is a web-based system used to prevent plagiarism and improper citations in student assignments and projects. The assignments, projects, etc. uploaded to the system are automatically compared with the sources in a very large data pool and a similarity report is created by detecting citations, similarities, and improper use of sources. In addition to academic databases, journals and publications, Turnitin's data pool includes more than 200 million student assignments and more than 17 billion web pages. Academic staff (full-time only) with teaching qualifications who wish to use Turnitin should send an e-mail to zuhalkasapcomu.edu.tr or busrabircancomu.edu.tr with their institutional e-mail address (...comu.edu.tr), including name/surname, academic/administrative position, and departmental information.
